I'm Tomislav Kranjec, a Technology Leader and Network & IT Infrastructure Architect. I've spent my career designing, operating, and evolving enterprise and service provider infrastructure.

My work spans network architecture, data centers, cloud platforms, virtualization, automation, and infrastructure strategy. Throughout my career, I’ve worked across different industries, countries, cultures, and languages, collaborating with people from diverse technical and business backgrounds.

I’m most interested in where architecture, operations, and business outcomes meet, where technical decisions have a real impact on reliability, growth, cost, and long-term success.

Focus Areas

Infrastructure Architecture

Designing and evolving infrastructure across networks, data centers, cloud platforms, and hybrid environments, with an emphasis on simplicity, resilience, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

Data Center & Network Infrastructure

Enterprise and service provider networking, modern data center fabrics, routing, switching, segmentation, resiliency, and the operational realities behind infrastructure design.

EVPN/VXLAN and Modern Fabrics

Understanding how modern network fabrics actually work — from control plane and data plane behavior to packet flow, failure scenarios, design decisions, and production operations.

Cloud and Hybrid Infrastructure

Connecting traditional infrastructure with cloud platforms, virtualization, remote sites, and distributed environments while keeping architecture, security, operations, and connectivity under control.

Automation and AI

Using automation to make infrastructure more repeatable and easier to operate, while exploring how AI is changing infrastructure platforms, engineering workflows, and the way technology is consumed.

Technology Strategy and Governance

Looking beyond individual technologies to understand architecture choices, modernization, standards, vendor decisions, technical debt, operational impact, and the relationship between technology and business objectives.

Perspective

I like technology that works.

Not just in a diagram or a lab, but in production, under pressure, and when things inevitably change. Good architecture should solve the problem without creating five new ones.

I’m interested in how things actually work, what happens inside the technology, why an architecture makes sense, where it breaks down, and what we can do better.

This site is where I share what I know and what I’m learning across infrastructure, networking, data centers, cloud, automation, AI, and technology strategy.

Outside technology, I enjoy sports, travel, reading, continuous learning, and exploring new ideas and technologies.

Understand how it works. Make good decisions. Build for the long term.
